About the Cascade Aerospace Q400-PF Kit
The Cascade Aerospace Q400-PF kit includes parts, modification instructions,
technical publications, and airworthiness certification necessary to support
conversion of Bombardier Q400 aircraft from passenger configuration into
Class E Package Freighter configuration.
The modification involves removing interior passenger-related elements and
installing a full cabin length Class E cargo compartment. The compartment
is designed to haul package freight and/or containers of varying shapes
and sizes.

The Cascade Aerospace Q400-PF kit contains materials required to convert
the aircraft to the certified Class E freighter configuration, including:

Structural parts for a new, more robust floor suspension system and
structure.

New floor boards specifically designed to meet the demanding
environment of cargo operations.

Low cost, replaceable floor protection panels (to protect the floor boards).
-
Structural parts for fixed hard points for vertical net attachment on the
upper fuselage.

Liner supports, liner panels, and liner close-out features.
-
Ventilation ducting and shut-off valve installation assembly.
-
Smoke detection system.
-
Fire barrier at forward end of Class E cargo compartment.

Cargo lighting system.
-
Wiring harnesses, switches, circuit breakers and related components.

All relevant placards.

Eight 9G forward restraint/vertical nets (Zones 1 through 8).
Q400-PF Features and Benefits

Among the features of the Q400-PF Package Freighter and the benefits
they bring to the cargo operator are:

The cargo compartment and aircraft ventilation system is modified to
provide climate control, so that the operator can accommodate perishables.

A new, robust cargo floor including new floor structure and suspension
system is installed, as well as protective panels on top of the cargo floor -
to minimize floor maintenance and repair costs.

The R1 door is modified to serve as a crew entry door - to allow crew
access to the flight deck at the same time cargo is being loaded onto
the aircraft (using the L1 door)-to enable quick operational turn times.

The aircraft's baggage door is modified to improve door height clearance.
-
A functional lavatory is retained for crew comfort and maximum stage
lengths.

The L1 door handrail can be modified to widen access space for moving
cargo in and out of the aircraft.

Aluminum window plugs, which minimize maintenance costs, are
available as an option.
The Cascade Q400-PF Package Freighter is certified by Transport Canada
under Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) SA08-91, and by EASA under
EASA.IM.A.S.02954. The Transport Canada STC enables ready portability to
other foreign air- worthiness authorities such as the FAA.
Combining the best ideas and features of two other Cascade cargo-related
products, the Q400-PF is based on the previously certified Cascade
Q400-MR Multi Role Airtanker cargo configuration which is certified under
STC SA05-101, and the Cascade CRJ200-PF Package Freighter which is
certified under STC SA07-44.
